Adele

AdeleAdkins was born to a young single mother who was raised in various working class London areas. Adkins enjoyed listening to contemporary pop music while she was young and began to learn to play the clarinet, as well as the guitar. It wasn't until her early teens, when she began to discover rhythm-and-blues singer Etta James and other mid-20th-century performers, that she began to consider pursuing a career in music. She was attending an academy for visual and performing arts, which was funded by the government. A friend of mine posted songs Adkins composed on Myspace. After graduating Adkins' music attracted the attention of record label. She got a contract in 2006 with XL Recordings.
