Carey is a former top model in fashion who measured at 5'10", was popular with American designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. She is the daughter of an outstanding geologist who in 1979 was named Scientist of the year in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey's father was a geologist who traveled the globe as a part of his profession. While she was at an institution called the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of Ford model Agency representative in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux, before returning back to New York in order to explore the modeling profession. Her work was showcased on Vogue and Glamour pages. While she was modeling, she was also a full-time student obtaining a major in literary studies at New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her debut as an actor was an appearance in the film with Robin Williams in the 1986 film "Club Paradise. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, wind surfing, rock climbing and white water white water rafting.
